Start with the instructions supplied with your set. These notes help you prepare the space and understand the differences between products.
Before you switch on
Check the number and type of batteries on the product page. Open each compartment, follow the polarity marks and close the cover securely. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types. Remove any battery isolation tab where supplied.
Using a remote and timer
Switch the candle base to the operating position described in its instructions, then test the remote close to the candle with a clear line of sight. Our featured timer sets offer two, four, six or eight hour cycles. The taper set has an on/off remote; the classic tea lights use individual switches.
If a light does not respond, check its base switch, battery direction and battery condition. Check the remote’s battery supply separately. Test each candle before placing it inside a deep holder or high display.
Placement and everyday care
Place candles upright on stable surfaces. Keep indoor sets dry, away from hot windowsills and active fireplaces. Glass can break and real wax can soften in heat. Outdoor designs still need the care described in their instructions; do not submerge them or let water pool around the base.
Small batteries need careful storage
Keep spare and used coin batteries away from children and pets. Close all battery compartments securely. Store spare batteries in their original packaging and follow local disposal guidance. These products are decorations, not toys.
Caring for paint brushes
Clean promptly using the method appropriate to your paint. Reshape the bristles and allow them to dry before closing the storage case. Avoid prolonged soaking of wooden handles or leaving brushes resting on their tips.
